A bodyboarder Algarve Joana Schenker surfed the largest indoor wave in the world, «The Wave» and contributed to the promotional action that Vila do Bispo did at the boot fair, which took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, between 21 and 29 January.

The Vila-Bispense athlete will be at the event on the 28th and 29th of January to show her skill on a board, this time inside four walls. On the way, he gave three interviews, «in a total of 45 minutes promoting the waves of Sagres as the best in the world for practicing the bodyboardd», according to the Town Council of Vila do Bispo.

"In her mother tongue and with a contagious sympathy, Joana Schenker also took the opportunity to promote the municipality of Vila do Bispo in German lands, namely in its very particular and differentiated tourist potential," added the municipality.

A contribution by Joana Schenker that "widely" boosted the participation of the Algarve municipality in this fair. Something that can be seen as the return of an “investment” current three-time champion of the European Bodyboard Circuit and fourth placed on the World Tour in 2016, taking into account that the athlete is sponsored by the municipality.

«This was my first experience in an indoor artificial wave, I had a lot of fun but I confess it was a challenge to do bodyboard in The Wave, as this wave has characteristics completely different from a natural wave. However, it is an excellent platform to take wave sports to places without sea. Being able to be present at BOOT was a great opportunity and I think my goal is to represent the Municipality of Vila do Bispo as an ambassador of its waves and present the modality of bodyboard to a wide audience it was a success», said Joana Schenker.
