The second edition of the UAlg Careers Fair will take place on the 14th and 15th of March, at the Penha Penha Campus Pedagogical Complex of the University of Algarve, in Faro, with the participation of 34 companies that intend to recruit for jobs and professional internships.

Companies will recruit in all areas of training, with the fair as its main objective to contribute to the entry of UAlg students and graduates into the labor market, facilitating the job search process and the development of a professional career.

André Botelheiro, coordinator of Ualg's Communication and Protocol Office, explained in an interview to radio program «Impressions», jointly organized by Rádio Universitária do Algarve and byo Sul Informação, that «helping with the employability of our students is one of Ualg's concerns».

The Algarve academy has "very high employability indicators", "always very close to 90%", according to data from the Infocursos portal, added the one responsible.

But that is no reason to "neglect" the responsibility of the University: it is not because our graduates are already well accepted in the labor market that we are not going to contribute to improving this relationship", stressed André Botelheiro.

Therefore, the Alg Careers Fair, which last year, in its first edition, had the participation of more than 600 students and graduates, this year reinforced the presence of companies and entities.

“For this year, we have already closed registration for companies that will be with us, including national, multinational and regional companies, but which are interested in recruiting in all areas in which the University has teaching and knowledge”, he said.

Over the two days of the recruitment and employment fair, «companies will have their stands, but they will also hold recruitment sessions in an auditorium». As a matter of fact, warned André Botelheiro, “there will come to be seven sessions at the same time”, so that each candidate will have to “make choices” and manage their time rigorously.

The coordinator of the Communication Office, which organizes this event, added that this will be "a very important moment for companies, who need to recruit, who ask us, for professional internships or to fill jobs, or to form their bases so they can quickly find the qualified human resources they need at any given time'.

The event, sponsored by Year Sabbatical, Glintt, Pine Cliffs Resort, Inesting, TMI and Grupo Auchan, will also have the participation of the following companies: Untapped Events, Leroy Merlin, AKI, Zoomarine, CGI, Garvetur, Unitalents, Visualforma, Grupo Thai, B Trust, Lidl, Aptrad, Golden Properties, BDO, Martinhal, Success Work, Decathlon, Algarve Private Hospital, Vila Vita Parc, Timing, Luzigás, Hilton Vilamoura, Norauto, Marinoteis, JAP Group, Casas do Sotavento and Primark.

The fair, further explained André Botelheiro, despite being more aimed at students and graduates at UAlg, «is open to everyone, anyone can visit the fair, whether or not our graduate, and register».

Applications for students and graduates are mandatory and must be made through the online form available by clicking here.

Organized by the University of Algarve and the Academic Association, the UAlg Careers Fair will have several exhibition spaces, company presentation sessions, recruitment sessions, workshops, lunches of networking, among other activities.

This year, the Algarve academy wants the UAlg Careers Fair, already considered the largest recruitment fair in the south of the country, to continue to be «a reference event, maintaining the high employability rate of its graduates».

André Botelheiro added that, in addition to this annual fair, the University of the Algarve also provides a job portal, a website where jobs and internships are gathered, as well as a Professional Opportunities Office. All of these «work together with the business sector, finding the best solutions for recruiting recent graduate students or even people who are undergoing advanced training, such as master's degrees», he concluded.
