The Portimão Council will give 6 thousand euros to six associations in the municipality «with a view to carrying out the parades of popular marches», according to a program-contract signed on February 2nd, in the main hall of Paços do Concelho in that city.

Thus, the winners will be Alvorecer – Association for the Promotion and Development of the Parish of Alvor, the Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense, Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense, Sporting Glória or Morte Portimonense, Sociedade Filarmónica Portimonense and Academia de Música de Lagos .

Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, attended the ceremony, where she highlighted "the enormous pride" she has "in the marches of Portimão and in the Portimão associative movement", highlighting the fact that these associations have managed to hold the marches in previous years without any type of financial support from the municipality, which faced financial constraints.

The mayor also mentioned the huge popular support that the marches aroused, having been seen by thousands of people.

At the ceremony, according to the Portimão City Council, "the promise was also made that these program contracts will be extended as quickly as possible to other associations, depending on the municipality's financial availability."
