Nature tourism in the Algarve is being promoted "intensive", throughout this week, in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) is promoting various initiatives to make known some of the products that the region has to offer in this niche «particularly appreciated by Dutch and Belgian tourists».

The program of activities began with the participation in the fair Fiets en Wandelbeurs 2017, one of the main fairs in the sector linked to active tourism, which took place in Utrecht on the 11th and 12th of February.

According to ATA, «taking into account the profile of the participants in this event, the Algarve took advantage of their presence to promote activities such as walking and cycling, presenting the region as a reference destination for lovers of nature tourism, not only for its infrastructure and natural beauty but also for the mild climate that the Algarve offers throughout the year».

The schedule of this trip also provides for training and public relations actions aimed at travel agents and tour operators in both countries. The ATA features a webinar (an online session) entirely dedicated to the presentation of the destination that will have an expected audience, in real time, of 100 agents in the sector.

This presentation will be available, via YouTube, to other professionals in this industry who show interest in knowing more about the Algarve and the diversity of activities that the region offers throughout the year.

"Through these actions of sharing detailed information about the destination, it is intended that agents and operators have the opportunity to organize personalized offers, packages and itineraries, tailored to the interests and motivations of their customers", adds the ATA.

Initiatives aimed at the sector's international press were also organized. In this aspect, ATA highlights a meeting with a Belgian television team that intends to carry out a broadcast exclusively dedicated to the Algarve and Alentejo. «This is a project of high interest that will allow, through the establishment of synergies between two neighboring regional destinations, to present a diversified and complementary offer, and obtain as a result a high international projection for both regions», explains Dora Coelho, executive director of the ATA.

The program of actions ends as it began, with a new participation in the edition of Fiets en Wandelbeurs 2017, which took place in Ghent, from 18 to 19 February.

«In addition to all these actions, which were strategically planned in order to discover, in a closer and more personalized way, in these two markets, a broader and more detailed vision of the Algarve, with this presence, we seek to foster a valuable networking network and fruitful among our members and some of the main tourist agents in these countries», concludes Dora Coelho.
