The Municipality of Alcoutim established a collaboration protocol with Associação Cumeadas – Association of Forest Owners of Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana, which provides for the transfer of a sum of 20 thousand euros.
The collaboration protocol has the objective of «guaranteeing the development of actions within the scope of conservation and enhancement of the natural, endogenous, agricultural and forestry heritage».
The alcouteneja autarchy says that the decision "takes into account a document of the same content, celebrated in February 2016, whose result was quite positive in terms of the protection of citizens and territory, namely in interinstitutional relations with a view to promoting the forest in the region" .
The support also has the objective of «stimulating teamwork in the various areas in which the association provides services, in order to improve and value the entire rural community, namely with the development of awareness-raising actions among the population, as well as collaboration in the organization of days and events».
The Chamber adds that it is also intended to «support the active functioning of the Sapadores Florestais team, whose competencies include the development of preventive silviculture actions, fire surveillance actions and support for combat (first intervention, aftermath and aftermath surveillance) ».
Based in the village of Pereiro, Cumeadas has as its intervention area the entire municipality of Alcoutim and two parishes in the municipality of Castro Marim (Azinhal and Odeleite).
