A budget of 12 thousand euros will be given by the Alcoutim Chamber to Santa Casa da Misericórdia in that location with the objective of «preventing, diagnosing and treating, in the area of oral health, the low-income population», according to the protocol of a year approved, on January 11th.
Citizens will be referred for consultations through the Municipality's Office of Social Action, Health and Education, which will contact “kindergartens, schools, homes and day centers and the population in general to survey the intervention needs and conditions households', explains the Alcoutim Council.
For its part, Santa Casa da Misericórdia is responsible for ensuring the treatment of residents.
“This initiative avoids lengthy and costly trips to neighboring councils, which, together with the precarious reforms, has led to many people carrying problems of oral disease, which they have the opportunity to solve”, considers the Alcouteneja municipality.
In 2016, «about 400 consultations were provided», concludes the Alcoutim Chamber.
