The “Portimão à Mesa” initiative highlights mackerel, sea bream and horse mackerel at the table of sixteen restaurants in the historic center of Portimão, during a week in February, March and April.

The objective is not only to promote fish as one of the most emblematic products of the Algarve's gastronomy, but also to dynamize the city center and the local economy during times of lesser tourist demand.

Each month, a different species of fish will be highlighted, according to the existing offer in the municipality and identified by Docapesca.

Thus, Cavala will dominate attention between the 6th and 12th of February and mark the start of “Portimão à Mesa”, which, from 6th to 12th March, will elect Sargo and, from 3rd to 9th April, Carapau.

On these dates, the sixteen participating establishments, located in the area of influence of Largo Doutor Bastos and Largo da Barca, will invite you to taste fish in different ways and seasonings, whether grilled, fried or cooked in the style of the house and there will be many options to enjoy each of the fish species.

The creation of the logo for this initiative had the participation of students from the Communication Design Course at ISMAT in Portimão, having selected the proposal of student Brian Claudino, who now sees his work applied in all communication pieces developed for dissemination of this action.

"This initiative is born from the will of some restaurant entrepreneurs and the commitment and commitment of the local authority to host and support actions that will dynamize the historic center of the city, namely within the scope of the ARU - historic center of Portimão", and counts on the support of Portimão Tourism Association, Portimão Parish Council, ACRAL and Docapesca, stresses the City Council in a press release.
