From 2017 onwards, young people in Lagos will be able to have a discount card (the «Save») to use in local businesses. This was one of the novelties announced at the official presentation of (A)Garra – Associação Juvenil de Lagos, which took place on December 19, at the Espaço Jovem da Câmara de Lagos.

In addition to this, it was also announced by Diogo Rodrigues, president of this association, that the intention is to celebrate, every year, the Youth Day, which is celebrated on August 12, with a «Color Party», which «promises to color the entire city of young people and of colours'.

For 2017, (A)Claw's objective is “to take small steps without compromising our structure”. In his speech, Diogo Rodrigues stressed that “awakening the spirit of intervention in young people”, as well as “energizing the city of Lagos”.

"It intends to meet with local associations in order to debate and work more and better for the city and for young people," he added.

About 50 people attended this initiative, and each member of the Association was introduced. Paula Couto, director of the Gil Eanes Secondary School, Maria Graça Cabrita, director of the Júlio Dantas Secondary School, Custódio Moreno, regional director of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and Sara Coelho, councilor for Culture at the Chamber of Lakes.

It was precisely Custódio Moreno who, according to (A)Garra, promised that in 2017 there will be several meetings to debate projects, having considered this project «fantastic». Sara Coelho "praised the initiative" and "stressed the important role that young people have for the municipality".

This event was also attended by Hugo Pereiro, deputy mayor of Lagos, the president of the Municipal Assembly, the presidents of the union of Freguesias de S. Gonçalo, Bensafrim and Barão de S. João and the coordinator of Sports and Youth from the City Council of Lagos.
