Herman Gewert_Herman Gewert was appointed general director of MAR Shopping Algarve, by IKEA Centers Portugal, announced today the Swedish group. The person in charge is already working on the operation of the new shopping centre, which is being built in Loulé, and which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017.

According to IKEA Centers, Herman Gewert, from Sweden, has been working in the area of ​​shopping center management since 2013 and has already moved to the Algarve with his family. He has been an IKEA Group employee for 32 years, having started his career at the company and, for the last 13 years, has been dedicated to managing IKEA Centers spaces.

«Before Portugal, he was responsible for commercial complexes at IKEA Centers in Russia and Italy and, in Denmark, he was Marketing Manager at IKEA Centres. In the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom, he was in charge of projects for the Group's stores», refers the statement sent to the newsrooms.

Herman Gewert, who is living in Loulé, «has deepened his knowledge and connection with the local community, assimilating the values ​​associated with the MAR Shopping seal: simplicity, sustainability, active insertion in the community and promotion of local culture with the great responsibility of contribute to a better day-to-day life for visitors,” adds IKEA Centres.

The completion of MAR Shopping Algarve is based on a very complete project and concept, offering future visitors an expanded 82.000 m² shopping complex, which includes the Designer Outlet Algarve, a fully integrated IKEA store and an outdoor leisure area . It is an honor to be part of a project of great importance for IKEA Centers in Portugal, with a view to creating jobs and extending the offer of services to the Algarve population throughout the year».

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2017, MAR Shopping Algarve will include 220 stores and 3.500 parking spaces. Among the stores in the commercial complex are Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Zara Home, Pull & Bear, Oysho, Lefties and Massimo Dutti (Inditex Group), Primark, Mango, C&A, Punt Roma, Sfera (El Corte Inglés Group), Tiffosi, Aromas and Sephora.

In total, the IKEA Group is investing 200 million euros in a project that, according to the company, will allow the creation of 3000 direct and indirect jobs, with the recruitment of workers for the furniture store is already underway.
