São Brás ChamberSão Brás de Alportel created a strategy to provide a better response in the event of disasters and will share good practices at national and international level in terms of reducing risks and victims, following the adhesion to the «Resilient Cities» campaign.

This project envisages “the fulfillment of the objectives established in the Sendai Action Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, approved by around 200 countries, and the implementation of the “10 Principles of the Resilient City”, a concerted strategy for prevention, preparation and risk mitigation at the local level».

The Municipality of São Brás has already started to implement these good practices and launched a strategy that, «among many other factors, addresses forest fire risk management, the promotion of work close to the resident community and founded the creation of the Municipal Plan of Civil Protection Emergency».

In a more practical aspect, the São Brasense municipality joined the International Day for the Reduction of Natural Disasters, this Thursday, and participated in the public exercise of citizenship «A Terra Treme», simulating an earthquake, «to appeal to the citizens to recall the procedures to be followed before, during and after such an occurrence'.
