The local command of the Maritime Police of Olhão yesterday seized five hand hooks, used by unlicensed shellfish collectors, on the island of Armona, during an inspection carried out between 5:00 am and 7:30 am.
These arts were found on the coast of Armona and were, according to the Maritime Authority, "hidden in the dunes". The scavengers fled when they became aware of the presence of the Maritime Police.
During this action, fishing vessels (three gillnets and one hooker) were also inspected, without any type of infringement being detected.
Two agents of the Maritime Police took part in this action, using a semi-rigid vessel and two vehicles.
