New Royal Atunara boat_1It was ordered by a company with Algarvian and Spanish capital to the Nauiber shipyards, in Vila Real de Santo António, vai to live in Olhão and serves to better exploit a raw material with a high market value: bluefin tuna. The new vessel from the fleet of the company Real Atunara, which operates two rigs on the Algarve coast, was launched this Monday and should have a brother, born in the same maternity, coming soon.

The vessel launched this week, which was baptized with the name “Rabilho”, represented an investment of close to 750 euros and “will make it possible to alleviate much of the work done in tuna armature”, according to Miguel Socorro, the Portuguese administrator of this company that has Algarve and Spanish partners.

"It is equipped with cranes with large capacity, has faster engines and other navigation potential in the Ria Formosa, which the boats we already have don't have," he revealed. The fact of being able to use several bars in the lagoon area, and not just the “large one”, will save “an hour or an hour and a half to reach Armação”.

With a length of 20 meters and a beam of 7,7, the boat also has «another type of reel to bring the nets up, which facilitates the work of sacrificing the tuna and substantially improves the conditions for doing this work».

With the «Rabilho» sailing and beeping, on the Guadiana River, from where he will travel to the headquarters of Real Atunara, in Olhão, the company's administrator is now thinking about the other two projects he plans to order from the VRSA shipyards.

“We have two projects applying for funding from the European Union, for support, one for the recovery of a boat, which is already here in Nautiber's shipyards, and the other for the construction of a boat smaller than this, with 10 meters by 6 beam . It will also be used in the frame, but for other types of work», announced Miguel Socorro.

A reinforcement that will be welcome, as Real Atunara has been asserting itself and holds two of the three licenses for bluefin tuna vessels destined for Portugal. In 2014, o South Informationthe met them and, at the time, both Miguel Socorro and the then deputy to the Assembly of the socialist republic Miguel Freitas drew attention to the fact that their company was forced to use a license that was not used by Spain, as the European Union only allowed our country to grant two licenses for this type of infrastructure (one of them has long been owned by the Japanese-owned company Tunipex, based in the Algarve).

Portugal managed, however, to secure another license and, more importantly, to see it granted the chance to do Farming, that is, fattening bluefin tuna, which allows it to sell 500 tonnes of tuna for more than its quota. can catch, which this year "should reach 400 tons".

Thus, it is natural that there is an investment in improving the company's fleet. And Miguel Socorro does not hide that the choice of Nautiber to build the boats of the company he is a partner in – the remaining shares belong to Spanish companies linked to the fishing sector – also has something of personal choice.

“I have been working with Nauiber for many years. These shipyards have a technical team, at the level of ship design and construction, which gives us guarantees and allows us to deliver the construction of this ship, as well as the other projects we have”, he considered.

Rui Roque, responsible for Nauiber, thanks and is pleased that «the cycle of money is closing in the Algarve». «It is important to try to ensure that the community funds allocated to the Algarve are applied here. Our philosophy is this: if we can work with VRSA companies, we will. If that's not possible, we'll try to work with companies in the Algarve, then in the country, and only if there's no other chance will we go abroad», assured the managing partner of Nautiber.

“For Real Atunara, we have essentially been doing reconstruction and repairs. This was the first boat built from scratch. I hope you like our work and that it won't be the last one», wished Rui Roque.
