Avenida Signage - CML - Mira (2)Loulé City Council implemented shared lane signage on Avenida José da Costa Mealha, the main artery of the city of Loulé, as part of the mobility project being developed by the municipality.

This measure represents "another step towards the promotion of sustainable mobility in the city of Loulé, which aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions", says the Câmara de Loulé.

This process it focuses on the rational use of private vehicles, the construction of an efficient and articulated public transport network and the promotion of the use of smooth modes – pedestrian and cycling.

In this sense, «the signage aims to create conditions so that users of this road, whether traveling by car or cycling, can, in a balanced way, cohabit in this artery».

The signs are intended to «alert motorists to the existence of a speed limit on this road (30km/hour), allowing, on the other hand, that cyclists can travel more comfortably through the center of the road, without the pressure of cars, following the a continuous line of blue color that was painted on the floor (Article 1, New Highway Code)», adds the Loulé local authority.

This Loulé Chamber project has already had moments such as delivery of shared-use bicycles to schools in the city or the signature of Commitment to the bicycle.
