2016-233-AMO-napoleao-aim-e-reflectThe Meeting Poesia a Sul will also bring theater, music and cinema to Olhão, between the 21st and 30th of October. In the 2nd edition of the initiative, poetry sets the tone for a diversified program that covers several areas.

Poesia a Sul begins on the 21st of October and will immediately offer a fresh work to Olhão. The poet from Olhano and event curator Fernando Cabrita will present the latest volume of the collection «Oito Livros de Oito Poetas», which will be followed by the inauguration of two exhibitions at the Municipal Auditorium and a moment of poetry.

There will also be a place for a show of spoken word «12 Songs Faladas and 1 Poema Desesperado», by Napoleão Mira & Reflect, at 21 pm, in the Municipal Auditorium.

Saturday, the 22nd of October, starts with two lectures at the Municipal Museum of Olhão, taking place from 15 pm onwards. The first, by Fernando Cabrita, will talk about the poem The Waste Land , by TS Elliot. Then, Spanish Augusto Thassio de los Infantes talks about the life and death of Miguel Hernandez.

Another of the day's initiatives is the debate «A Poesia eo Ensino», which takes place at Galeria Sul Sol e Sal, from 18 pm, with the presence of Anabela Batista, Nélia Estevão, Paulo Penisga and Pedro Oliveira Tavares.

On Sunday 23, at 11:00 am, the Cantaloupe space receives Poetry with a View to the Sea, where books by Pedro Jubilot and Raquel Zarazaga will be presented, as well as readings of texts by various poets.

At 17:00, there is theater in the Municipal Markets, by Te-atrito. Half an hour later, in the same space, Teresa Rita Lopes gave a lecture on the theme “Pessoa eo Livro do Desassossego”. At the end of the afternoon, at 19:30 pm, always in the Municipal Markets, there will be a space for poetry reading, by the voices of Rogério Cão and Fernando Cabrita.

The Monday is dedicated to the presentation of books by Miguel Godinho and António Ventura. On Tuesday, the 25th, it is the turn of authors Adília César, Marco Mangas, José Luís Rua Nacher and Eladio Orta to make their most recent works known to the public.

João Pereira, Pedro Tavares, Said Trigaoui, Eva Vaz, Chi Trung and Luís Ene will present their own volumes on Wednesday, 26th October. The sessions take place from 18 pm, at Galeria Sul Sol e Sal.

This day will also be marked by the screening of the film Howl, by Allen Ginsberg, at the Sociedade Recreativa Progresso Olhanense, and for the poetry and music show by João Pereira and Eduardo Patarata, at the Cantaloupe space.

The space chosen for the program on Thursday, 27th, of Poesia a Sul, is the Sociedade Recreativa Progresso Olhanense, where a tribute to the Algarve poet Casimiro de Brito will take place, as part of the 18th anniversary of the works «Poesia 00 – The Generation of 55” and the “New Portuguese Poetry”.

The schedule of the II International Poetry Meeting in the South lasts until the 30th of October, with literary, musical and recreational activities. This edition will also be marked by daily visits by poets to schools and homes in the municipality and the presentation of the João Lúcio School Literary Prize.
