Alcoutim River GuadianaAlcoutim's mobility strategy and public transport services will start to be managed by AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve, under an inter-administrative contract for delegation of powers already approved at the Council Meeting of the Alcoutenejo municipality.

«The contract in question covers the definition of the strategic objectives of the mobility system, planning, organization, operation, attribution, supervision, investment, financing, dissemination and development of the public passenger transport service. This document resulted from a base document and a regional strategy in the scope of mobility approved at AMAL headquarters on the 25th of July», according to the Chamber of Alcoutim.

O Algarve Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PAMUS), referred to by the alcouteneja municipality, was launched with the aim of improving mobility and, above all, intermodality in the Algarve.

"The goal is to bring decisions closer to citizens, promote territorial cohesion, strengthen inter-municipal solidarity, improve the quality of services provided to populations and rationalize modes, means of available resources, through efficient, effective management, sustainable and socially useful public passenger transport service serving users in AMAL's territory», reinforced the Chamber.

The autarchy argues that, with the transfer of responsibility for the management of the Algarve transport system from the Instituto da Mobilidade e Transportes to the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve, «it is important to ensure continuity and avoid disruptions in the provision of public passenger transport services to populations, without prejudice to the need to continually seek to promote greater efficiency in its management and operation».
