K book Albufeira RevisitedThe book “Albufeira Revisited”, by Luísa Monteiro, Idalina Nobre, Rui Gregório and Manuela Santos, will be presented in the parishes of the municipality, between today, the 8th, and the 11th of September.

The first parish to receive the presentation of the book is Guia, this evening, at 21:30 pm, at the Salão Cultural e Recreativo. On the following day, Friday, the 9th, it will be Olhos de Água's turn, at the Hall of the former Parish Council, also at 21 pm, followed by Saturday, the 30th, at Ferreiras, at the local Football Club lounge, at the same time.

On Sunday, the 11th, the presentation of the book “Albufeira Revisited” will be in Paderne, in the Parish Council room, at 18 pm. All presentations will be attended by the authors of the work and the mayor of Albufeira Carlos Silva e Sousa.

This book «is a work that brings to the public several memories and facts that had not yet been published, about the History and Heritage of Albufeira, as well as the production of garum in the Roman period, the Arab sage from Paderne Castle, Avis' commendation, which was the only one in the Algarve, the orphans' wheel, the search for Albufeira by foreign scientists even before Tourism and many other curiosities», he says the Town Hall of Albufeira.

The work also recalls prominent personalities, natives of the municipality, such as Diogo Leote, who was Minister of Justice in the Constitutional Government of João Chagas and who imposed the separation between women and men in Portuguese jails, Mendonça de Vilalobos, the doctor who brought him the first X-ray apparatus for the Algarve, Félix Negrão, one of the most renowned Latinists of the XNUMXth century and co-founder of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, as well as Artur Águedo Miranda, one of the founders of the newspaper O Algarve and the republican Francisco by Paula Baptista, apothecary of Freemasonry with a shop in Paderne and the first mayor of Albufeira after the fall of the Monarchy.
