FerreirasThe book “Albufeira Revisited” was presented at the four parishes of this municipality in sessions that, in total, were attended by about two hundred people. The sessions took place between the 8th and 11th of September, in Olhos de Água, Guia, Paderne and Ferreiras.

The authors' interventions focused on aspects related to each parish and, at the end, the sessions included the reflections of the respective Chairman of the Board and Mayor and also, in the Parish of Olhos de Água and Albufeira, with the intervention of the Vice President, José Carlos Martins Rolo, replacing Carlos Silva e Sousa.

"These were moments of knowledge exchange and memories sharing also on the part of those present, which often evoked nostalgia and nostalgia for those who are now remembered in the various black and white photographs that make up the book", says the Chamber from Albufeira.

For the mayor, “it is recognition that builds our identity and it is the remembrance of times, practices and people that makes us a unique people; this singularity is a value, and this is increasingly sought after by those who are curious about the Algarve: people with unique cultural brands who, by knowing where they come from, express satisfaction and security».

In turn, José Carlos Martins Rolo underlined the scientific aspects of the book and called for the continuation of this research work, with a view to strengthening the ties of all those who reside in Albufeira, as well as those who visit the city.

The book “Albufeira Revisited” is by Luísa Monteiro, Idalina Nobre, Rui Gregório and Manuela Santos and costs 12 euros. The work can be purchased at the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, at the Municipal Archeology Museum, at the Santa Eulália Tourist Office and at the Municipal Support Office. By the end of the year, this work is expected to be translated into English, French and Spanish.
