Athlete Jorge Pina, born in Portimão, was ranked 7th in the T11/12 class of the Paralympic Games, held today in Rio de Janeiro.

The athlete from Algarve, who is blind, completed the course in 2 hours, 55 minutes and 47 seconds, 23 minutes and 30 seconds more than the winner of the competition, Moroccan El Amin Chentouf.

The other Portuguese in the competition, Gabriel Macchi, made 6th place, with a time of 2 hours, 43 minutes and 49 seconds, which represented the best mark of the season for the athlete.

Race winner Amin Chentouf completed the course in 2 hours, 32 minutes and 17 seconds.

The Spaniard Alberto Laso Suarez won the silver medal, by winning the time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 11 seconds. The podium closed with Masahiro Okamura, Japanese, who completed the race in 2 hours, 55 minutes and 47 seconds.
