Queen of the GrapesPhoto sessions, a visit to the Senhora da Rocha promontory and the Final Gala are the activities that integrate the “Queen of Vindimas” contest, which will take place from 8 to 10 September, in Lagoa, as part of the “City of Wine” award 2016″.

The program starts on the 8th, a municipal holiday in Lagoa, with the arrival of 16 candidates. The Algarve representative will be Ana Rita Faustino, representing Lagoa.

For the 9th, the reception of candidates and a photo session at the City Council are scheduled, at 10:30 am, followed by a visit to Quinta dos Vales, at 11:30 am. After lunch, at 12:30 pm, there will be a visit to the headland of Senhora da Rocha, scheduled for 15:30 pm.

The first rehearsal at the Centro de Congressos do Arade, which will be the stage for the Final Gala, on the 10th, will take place from 17:00 to 19:00. The day ends with a dinner for candidates and organization, scheduled for 20:00.

On the 10th, all activities will take place at the Arade Congress Center. At 10:00, there is a first dress rehearsal and production, followed by lunch at 12:30. At 15:00 pm, a working meeting with the jury is scheduled. The second dress rehearsal of the day will be at 17:00 pm, with dinner at 19:00 pm until… 21:30 pm, when the Final Gala starts.

At 23 pm, the award-winning wine Medals will be handed out at the 15th edition of the “La Selezione del Sindaco” International Enological Competition – which took place from May 26th to 28th, in the city of L'Aquila, Italy – where three Portuguese wines won the Great Gold Medal, maximum quality award. The ceremony will be attended by national and Italian entities linked to wine production.

This “Rainha das Vindimas” contest was launched in 2008 by the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities, with the aim of defending “regional traditions linked to wine production”, as some municipalities organized their Queen of the Vindimas contests.
