Ana Rita Faustino, 15 years old from Lagoa, the new Queen of the Harvest of Lagoa “Cidade do Vinho 2016”, was presented on Sunday at FTACIL's lounge space.
Ana Rita Faustino succeeds Luana Ramos, who participated in the election of the Queen of the Harvest of Portugal, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, last year.
The new Rainha das Vindimas received from the hands of the Mayor Francisco Martins the sash and crown that she will wear during the year of her “reign”, representing Lagoa in actions promoted by AMPV – Association of Wine Producers Municipalities.
Bouquets of flowers were delivered to the outgoing and elected queens by President Francisco Martins and by José Arruda, from AMPV.
The ceremony, which ended with the usual family photo, was followed by a wine tasting for guests and presents.
On the occasion, the Gala of the Queen of the Harvest of Portugal 2016 was announced, on September 10, at 21 pm, at the Centro de Congressos do Arade, in Parchal.
With the election of the Queen of the Harvest, AMPV intends to value and publicize the «uses and customs related to the cultivation of vines and the production of wine, encouraging young people to connect to the land, which is intended to be preserved».
