Silves celebrates the Municipality Day on September 3rd and will honor about 250 athletes from the municipality, who distinguished themselves over the last year.
In addition to this initiative, the “Municipality Day” will also have the inauguration of the exhibition “Mercadejando”, by Conceição Agostinho, and the inauguration of the works of the São Bartolomeu de Messines Municipal Field.
On this date, which also marks the 26th anniversary of the Municipal Museum of Archeology of Silves, there will also be free admission and accompanied visits to this museum space. Those who visit the space can also benefit from guided tours, between 10:00 and 12:00 and 14:00 and 17:00.
The morning will start at Castelo de Silves, with a session in honor of the athletes and other personalities of the county, at 10:00 am.
After the solemn session, at 11:30 am, the inauguration of the exhibition “Mercadejando”, by Conceição Agostinho, in the Municipal Market of Silves, presents around 40 photographs of various Algarve municipal markets and its activity.
In the afternoon, at 15:00 pm, the inauguration of the works carried out at the site, which contemplated the placement of state-of-the-art synthetic turf on the grounds, "in an investment that amounted to 150 euros and which also included the placing of markings for football 11 and football 7 (2 fields), the greening of two venues inside the EB 2,3 João de Deus (space adjacent to the municipal field), a multi-sport with markings for 5-a-side football and handball and another field for various sports activities», explains the City Council.
