Between the 22nd and 28th of August, the municipality of Odemira hosts a gastronomic week dedicated to big game. There will be six participating restaurants in the towns of Boavista dos Pinheiros, Colos, Odemira and Sabóia.
According to the Chamber of Odemira, "this gastronomic week intends to make known the culinary use of the most representative species of Greater Game in the municipality of Odemira, predominantly wild boar".
The restaurants “O Jaime” and “O Bernardo” (Boavista dos Pinheiros), “Piriquito” (Colos), “O Tarro” and “O Escondidinho do Poço” (Odemira) and “Flor do Campo” (Sabóia) will participate in the initiative. ).
The municipality of Odemir explains that «the wild boar meat can be enjoyed in various ways, from stewed with chestnuts, or with sweet potatoes, or with feijoada. In addition to wild boar, there will also be dishes of deer, hare and partridge».
The Caça Maior Gastronomic Week takes place within the scope of the 5th edition of the Caça Maior Fair, scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of September, in S. Teotónio, in the Parque de Feiras e Exposições, in an initiative of the Municipality of Odemira, in collaboration with the S. Teotónio Parish Council and the council's hunter associations.
