Martim Longo, in Alcoutim, will celebrate the fig of India on the 2nd and 3rd of September, with the event “Concelho de Alcoutim – Capital of the Fig of India”.
The second technical round will take place on the first day of the event puntia ficus-indica from Alcoutim and, for the 3rd, at 15 pm, the 00th competition of aromas and flavors with figs of India is scheduled, where you can taste the products in the competition, as well as figs, and other delicacies based on this exotic fruit.
Both events take place at the Hall of the Parish Council of Martim Longo.
Throughout the month of August the photo contest will also take place. WorldLand Opuntia ficus-indica.
According to the Chamber of Alcoutim, «during two days, this event, with a vast program of activities open to the public, counts on the presence of internationally renowned experts, who will be in Alcoutim to debate, deepen and promote the fig tree and the fig tree. India as endogenous products of great importance in the context of the region's development».
The event Alcoutim Municipality – Figo Capital of India is organized by Alcoutim City Council and Martim Longo Parish Council, in collaboration with CGFI – Confraria Gastronomica do Figo e Figueira da Índia, ADECMAR – Association for Ethnographic Cultural Development of Martim Longo, APROFIP – Association of Producers of Figo da Índia from Portugal and the CRCL – Centro Recreativo e Cultural do Laborato.
