lux airThe Luxembourg tour operator Luxair Tours will expand its operation between the Airport of Faro and Luxembourg City, creating a new weekly flight, which will run from November 5, 2016 to March 25 of next year.

The Algarve destination thus becomes part of the 2016/2017 winter catalog of Luxair Tours, where 16 hotels in the region will be represented.

The operator accepted the challenge launched by the Associação Turismo do Algarve (ATA) and by Turismo de Portugal and, continuing an already existing connection, will guarantee, for the first time, an annual flight operation between the city of Luxembourg and Faro.

Following this decision, the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA), the entity responsible for promoting the region's tourism to foreign markets, will today be present at the official presentation event of this catalogue, which will take place in the German city of Perl, where it will hold a presentation of the destination and its offer, with the aim of increasing knowledge about the Algarve among 120 travel agents from the German market who will participate in this action.

In addition to Germany (where it works with around 200 travel agents), Luxair Tours also operates in the markets of Luxembourg, France and Belgium.

For this reason, Dora Coelho, executive director of ATA, considers this initiative by the operator to be of great importance for tourism in the region, as it will allow the Algarve to come closer to markets seen as strategic.

"The existence of one more air connection throughout the year is another opportunity for us to promote and make known, in an integrated manner, the different products that make up the offer of this destination and, in this way, contribute to the fight seasonality,” said Dora Coelho.

This new operation with Luxair Tours follows on from ATA's commitment to participating, for the first time and together with this operator, in the fair Foire Vakanz, last January.

«The presence of the Algarve and the dissemination of its tourism offer in what is considered the largest travel and tourism fair in Luxembourg proved to be a positive experience, as this destination aroused the interest of many of the visitors who passed through the area», reveals the ATA
