The entire municipality of Albufeira was without nursing care at home during the weekend, due to a breakdown of the integrated continuous care team's vehicle. In the municipality of Loulé there was a reduction in home visits also due to breakdowns in more than half of the vehicle fleet.
According to the Portuguese Nurses Union (SEP), “the lack of vehicles is a problem that the SEP has systematically raised with the Regional Health Administration (ARS). ACES Central identifies the lack of 7 vehicles, while ACES Barlavento assesses the lack of 11». Between 2014 and 2015, 1070 fewer home visits were carried out in the municipality of Loulé due to this lack of vehicles.
The SEP also warns of the need to "acquire vehicles for primary health care and continued care, so that they can pursue their mission."
