About 1600 young athletes were in Lagoa, between June 20 and 27, to compete in the Children and Youth Football Tournament «Kids Master Champions», where Portimonense stood out, winning the Initiates category (athletes born in 2001/2002 ).
The Portimão club was one of the 81 that attended the event, most of them from the Algarve, but also from other parts of mainland Portugal, Azores and Madeira, and from Spain. Among the 32 teams from other regions were some renowned ones, such as Benfica, FC Porto, Sporting de Braga and Real Betis (Seville).
According to the Câmara de Lagoa, the event mobilized more than five thousand people, including athletes and companions, who also took the opportunity to "get to know the municipality of Lagoa and enjoy its tourist attractions."
In the end, FC Porto stood out, with two trophies collected (Traquinas/2007, Benjamins A/2005), with the victories in the other categories being distributed by different emblems, namely: Benfica (Benjamins B/2006), Real Bétis Balompié (Infantis B/2004), SC Braga (Infantis A/2003), Portimonense (Initiados/2001-2002) and GD Alcochetense (Initiados/1999-2000).
The games took place at the Bela Vista Municipal Stadium, Estômbar Municipal Sports Park, Capitão Josino da Costa Stadium and Alagoas Training Ground, with the finals of the Traquinas, Benjamins A and B and Infantis A and B levels held in the morning on Sunday 26, at the Municipal Stadium of Bela Vista.
