Fuseta IslandSince the official opening of the bathing season, on the 1st of June, it has not been possible to access Ilha da Fuzeta by boats, all because the access walkway to Fuzeta-Mar beach, where passengers are dropped off, is closed for reasons of safety. The repair work is already underway and today, at the end of the day, «everything should return to normal».

According to the Captain of the Port of Olhão, Nunes Ferreira, who took the decision to close the access, among the reasons for the interdiction were two accidents that occurred at the site recently.

"In the last week two ladies fell in that attack and just luckily they didn't get hurt," he explained to Sul Informação.

Nunes Ferreira added that "since 10:00 am today that repair work has been carried out by Docapesca" and that, between 17:00 and 18:00, there will be an inspection with technicians from the Captaincy and Docapesca to assess its reopening. "This afternoon, everything is back to normal", he assured.

During these two days that the bridge was closed, access to Ilha da Fuzeta could only be made by Mar-Taxi.
