The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel is celebrating its 102nd anniversary today and will mark the date with various initiatives, including the inauguration of the renovation work on the village's Nascent Entrance, which will be attended by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.
At 10:00 am, the protocol ceremony for raising the flag took place, in the City Hall, to the sound of the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, which marks the beginning of the festive day.
This will be followed by the Solemn Commemorative Session, in the Main Hall of the City Council, which will be part of the delivery of municipal insignia of value and merit to various personalities and the attribution of insignia to municipal employees for over 25 years of service.
After a visit to the Museu do Trajo, at 11:45 am, the renovating work of the Nascente Entrance will be inaugurated, by the Secretary of State, at 12:15 pm. «The completion of this work, which ended the Rehabilitation Plan for the Vila Entrances, respected the will expressed by the people of São Brasenses in the 2015 Participatory Budget management process, having been the project chosen by the community», explains the municipality.
In the afternoon, from 15:00 pm, the Carrera Viegas Garden hosts another Children's Party with activities and musical entertainment for the whole family.
At 16 pm, another work is inaugurated: the Skate Park of São Brás de Alportel, «which fulfills a dream that has long been defended by São Brasense youth», considers the municipality.
At 17:30 pm, there will be a tour of the mausoleum of the municipality's founder, João Rosa Beatriz, and the Passos Family Tomb, and the restoration project that has already been completed will be presented, developed in partnership with the Parish Council, which had the collaboration of the City Council , from the Municipal Museum of Faro and the University of the Algarve.
At night, at 22 pm, Praça da República will be the stage for the public presentation of the WiFi network in São Brás de Alportel, followed by a concert by DAMA
The closing of the celebrations will be marked by a Fireworks Show, which precedes the congratulations, and the distribution of the birthday cake and champagne by the public.
