Besides António Zambujo, Pedro Mestre will also play on the main stage at Praça da República, whose songs from the latest album, “Campaniça do Despique”, will be accompanied by the unmistakable voices of the Rancho de Cantadores from Aldeia Nova de São Bento.

But if the present edition of Almarte, which is inspired by Lusofonia, promises to end in a big way, its beginning will also be in a big way.

Thus, in musical terms, the night of Friday, May 20th, will offer a journey through Cape Verdean musical culture, through the hands of one of its most emblematic representatives: Tito Paris.

Guitarist and interpreter, Tito Paris has been one of the great references in Europe for Cape Verdean music for nearly three decades, his regular performances in Lisbon clubs such as Casa da Morna or B.Leza being a reason for worship.

On Saturday, May 21st, Almodôvar will receive a truly surprising show that brings together on stage the songs of João Gil's many musical lives, with the drawings, improvised at the time, by Ana Mesquita.

ALMART 2016The authors call “musical-art” to this unprecedented artistic intervention, which is called “Casados ​​de Fresco”. Throughout the performance, which will be fueled by a constant dialogue with the audience, João Gil presents a summary of his work from the times of the Trovante to the Baile Popular, while Ana Mesquita recreates the musical environments in drawings, which will be shown in time. real on a panel video hall.

This year's edition of Almarte – International Festival of Arts in the Street will feature artists from all Portuguese-speaking countries, in a “perfect cultural marathon” that will completely transform the streets of the heart of Almodôvar, between days May 20 and 22, with dozens of interventions in theatre, music, dance, magic, circus arts, stand-up comedy ou graffiti.

Almarte – International Festival of Arts in the Street is financed by community funds, under the Alentejo 2020 programme.

The Municipality of Almodôvar submitted an application under this program for two projects, aimed at «refocusing the county's cultural offer»: Almarte and Escritas do Sul – International Book and Literature Festival, which will take place between 5 and October 9th.

In its first edition, Almarte was distinguished by the Regional Tourism Authority of Alentejo/Ribatejo.
