Algarve Genealogy CongressThe 18st Algarve Genealogy Congress will take place on the weekend of 19 and XNUMX June, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, marking the tenth anniversary of the pioneering Meeting of Genealogists in the region.

Nuno Campos Inacio, organizer of this Congress, explains that «nine years ago, at the initiative of the Algarve genealogist Júlio de Sousa, the XNUMXst Meeting of Algarve Genealogists was held in the city of Loulé, an event that was repeated uninterruptedly in the Algarve towns of Loulé, Tavira, Portimao, Faro, Castro Marim, Monchique, Moncarapacho, Alvor and Alcoutim, bringing together more than fifty participants».

The Congress now appears, to give «another shape and dimension to the meetings of Algarve genealogists and the Algarve's genealogy».

Thus, on the 18th and 19th of June, the Algarve genealogists will be working and socializing in the city of Silves. On the 18th, there will be the traditional informal meeting, socializing and exchange of information, while on the 19th, the Algarve Genealogy Congress will take place, starting at 10 am, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório.

As part of this event, two new literary works linked to the history of the Algarve will also be presented, «Sebastião de Vargas – Knight of the Royal House of the XNUMXth Century», by António Horta Correia, and «The Recollection of São João Baptista de Tavira», work by Marco Sousa Santos, winner of the António Rosa Mendes Literary Prize.

Among the participating genealogists, there are names such as Ana Laginha, António Horta Correia, Custódio Adriano, Fernando Águas, José Cabecinha, José Ferreira Coelho, Lourdes Girão, Luís Soveral Varela, Luísa Pereira, Manuel Costa, Marco Sousa Santos, Maria Elisa Florêncio , Nuno Campos Inácio, Óscar Caeiro Pinto, Segismundo Pinto or Susana Sousa, among many others.

Communications from António Horta Correia, Aurélio Marcos, João Vasco Reis, José Ferreira Coelho, Luís Soveral Varela, Luísa Pereira, Manuel Costa, Marco Sousa Santos, Nuno Campos Inácio and Óscar Caeiro Pinto have already been confirmed for the congress. other communications, since the registration deadline only ends on June 1st.

The communications will later be published in book format.
