Genealogy_PorchesThe project «Genealogia do Algarve», by researcher Nuno Campos Inácio, involving the Parish of Porches, will be launched at Centro Cultural D. Dinis, in that village in the municipality of Lagoa, this Saturday, 15 November, at 16 pm.

The project «Genealogia do Algarve – Parish of Porches», by Nuno Campos Inácio, is the result of years of research on the “family tree” of the inhabitants of this parish, between 1591 and 1908.

Porches began as a council, by detachment from Silves, under the terms of a charter by D. Dinis, dated 20 August 1286, and its seat was raised to the status of a village on the same date. The status was confirmed by D. Pedro I, but D. Fernando (XNUMXth century) decided to extinguish the council and Porches returned to Silves, as a parish.

As a result of the administrative reform of 1834, the Parish of Porches was transferred from the court of Silves to Lagoa, to whose council it now belongs, which happened 180 years ago.

A "Algarve genealogy” is a pioneering regional project of high historical and cultural value that aims to carry out an exhaustive survey of the parish records of the municipality of Lagoa – in this case, Porches – listing (listing) all the people who were born, married or died in that land between 1591 and 1908 and, once completed, anyone via the internet and with a simple “click” will be able to know your family tree.

You can find out which branch and family generation you belong to, who was who, when they were born, where they were born and where they died – in that period of time – by consulting the website www.geneologiadoalgarve.com.
