North Avenue of Quarteira 2Road traffic on the section of the EN396 between the BP roundabout and the junction with the VNC588 (Rua Altura de Maio), at the entrance to Quarteira, will be cut off until the 4th of June, announced today the Municipality of Loulé.

The traffic cut is due to the construction work on Avenida Norte de Quarteira, at a stage where it is “necessary to carry out infrastructure construction work”, explains the municipality.

Since this cut will imply "substantial changes" in the normal flow of traffic to and from the city of Quarteira and Vilamoura, the City Council will create alternative routes.

Therefore, those who want to enter Quarteira or Vilamoura from the EN396 will find a detour at the so-called Vila Sol roundabout. This will indicate that traffic to Vilamoura should head west, through Vila Sol.

On the other hand, those who have Quarteira as their destination will be diverted to the east, towards Francisco Sá Carneiro and Papa Francisco Avenues. Access to Rua Altura de Maio will be maintained, but with a limitation to vehicles weighing less than 5,5 tonnes.

Those who want to leave Quarteira, from the BP roundabout, will find the turnoff indication for the VNC624, a road parallel to the EN396 and giving access to the EN125.

Access to the Pingo Doce Supermarket, Morgadinho Urbanization and Rua Pernada do Almargem will be guaranteed from the BP roundabout, although this will be limited to vehicles with a tonnage of less than 5,5 tons, considering the characteristics of the street.

The Loulé Council appeals "to everyone's understanding of the possible inconveniences caused".
