Students from Portimão perform in Theater Exhibition for a month

God Save You, Fresh Rose Photo 2TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão presents, from May 10th to June 4th, a School Theater Show “Schools on Stage” developed in a school context with the support of dozens of teachers.

Students from Portimo will show themselves around the city, occupying the stage of the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO, revealing their talent and willingness to create and develop artistic projects that make them think about the world and grow as artists.

From the classroom to the stage, this School Theater Exhibition welcomes the dramatic works that students and teachers from schools in the municipality of Portimão worked on during the school year. Altogether, around 300 students take to the stage in five different shows integrated into eight theater groups, involving students and teachers from schools in the municipality. The shows are free to enter.

The project involves students from the 11th and 1st years of the Professional Course of Performing Arts at Escola da Bemposta, from the Alternative Curriculum Course (6th, 7th and 8th years) of EB 2/3 Dom Martinho Castelo Branco, students from the vocational class 10th grade Sociocultural Animation at Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School, students from the Aleixo Theater Club, from Teatro da Caverna, students from Sandro William Junqueira's Sexta Insónia Theater and "people from our land", with the Senior Theater Group of Freguesia of Portimão.

The show starts on May 11th, with a session dedicated to the schools of the show «ADN» by the Sexta Insónia Theater Company, taking place in the Grand Auditorium. On the 13th and 14th of May, this piece returns to the scene, aimed at the general public.

Between the 19th and 21st of May, the show "Amor de Anjo" will be presented, starring students from the 11th and 12th year of the Professional Course of Performing Arts at Escola da Bemposta and by the Senior Theater Group of the Parish of Portimão. On the first two days, the sessions are aimed at the school public and start at 14:30 pm. On the 21st, at 21 pm, the session is open to the general public.

On the 26th of May, the classes of the Alternative Curriculum Route (6th, 7th and 8th grades) of EB 2/3 Dom Martinho Castelo Branco take the stage twice to present the play «Infinite Possibilities». The first, scheduled for 14:30 pm, is aimed at schools. At 21 pm, the rest of the audience is given the opportunity to see the play.

The next day, the play “E Agora?” is shown, performed by the Vocational Class of Sociocultural Animation of the 10th year of Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo. Also in this case, there will be two presentations, at 14:0 and 21:30, for the school public and the general public, respectively.

The event ends on the 28th of May, with the play “Decide Tu”, by the Vocational Class of Sociocultural Animation of the 21th year of Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo, at 30 pm.

«The objectives of this initiative are to promote, support and value the artistic and cultural initiatives of the school environment in Portimo, disseminating the work developed, in the theatrical field, by the county's educational institutions. Through this event, the school groups intend to encourage the art of theater among young students and, at the same time, enrich the knowledge of those who invest in this area», according to the City Council of Portimão.

Free tickets must be purchased in advance at the TEMPO ticket office, open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 13:30 pm to 18:30 pm, and on show days from 13:30 pm to 21:30 pm.
