led4The Ambi municipal companyfaro started a process to replace the lighting in the Municipal Market building in Faro and the underground car park, using LED technology, with the work expected to be completed by the beginning of May.

This investment, in addition to the longer durability of LED lamps, will allow “a saving of around 60% on the energy bill corresponding to the lighting sector, with an estimated annual savings of around 20 thousand euros, therefore representing a saving of more than 250 thousand euros in 10 years, if the savings obtained by the greater durability of the material are also taken into account», stresses Bruno Lage, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ambifaro.

This decision to replace lighting with LED technology, in addition to «furnishing this building with more modern and efficient lighting», is presented as an «important environmental measure and a strong contribution to the sustainability of the planet, since energy efficiency in terms of lighting, it is one of the most important measures to control greenhouse gas emissions, and there is even a goal that, by 2020, LED lamps will represent half of the world's domestic market», adds Bruno Lage.

Almost all the energy supplied to LED lamps is spent on lighting, so there is practically no heat release, and, unlike incandescent and even fluorescent lamps, which break easily, semiconductor-based LEDs are shock-resistant, they do not pose a risk of fire, explosion or electrocution, which also represents important benefits in terms of safety.
