brussels airportFaro, Athens and Turin are the destinations of the only three flights that will depart this Sunday from Brussels airport, which partially reopens this way, 12 days after the suicide bombing that killed more than three dozen people and injured another 340.

In this first phase of reopening, there will be fewer flights and security procedures will be reinforced, but the aim is to return to normal operation as soon as possible, revealed Arnaud Feist, executive president of the airport in the Belgian capital, at a press conference.

The reopening is "a sign of hope, which demonstrates the desire and willingness to overcome this challenge and not give in", said Arnaud Feist.

Access to the airport will only be possible by car, there will be special cameras for reading license plates and cars will be inspected at random.

The check-in area, affected in the March 22 attacks, will temporarily work with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour, that is, around 20 percent of its normal capacity.

The three flights this Sunday, the day of the reopening of the airport in the Belgian capital, are all operated by Brussels Airlines.

Brussels was the target of two bomb attacks, at the airport and at the Maalbeck metro station, on 22 March, which killed more than 30 people and injured 340. The attack was claimed by the self-proclaimed Islamic State.
