Wine Route_carlos garciasCarlos Garcias was re-elected president of the Algarve Wine Commission (CVA), for the third consecutive three-year period, after the elections for the CVA governing bodies, held last Wednesday, 30 March.

The General Council and the structure of the Board of CVA remained with the same composition: the winegrower João Mendes, from Quinta do Morgado da Torre, remains as representative of commerce (ACIBEV), and the winegrower Fernando Leitão, from Única – Adega Cooperativa do Algarve, as representative of the production.

The General Council is represented by José Cintra Seromenho (Única), João Mariano (Única) and António Cavaco (Única) and, for commerce, Ruben Pinto, from Adega do Cantor (ACIBEV), Adérito António, from Quinta dos Vales (ACIBEV) and Carla Abreu, from Quinta do Morgado da Torre (ACIBEV).

Elected unanimously, CVA's management renewed its commitment to “working to ensure the organization's financial sustainability”, after having presented positive results in the last three years.

Carlos Gracias also stated that, "in view of the effort undertaken by economic agents in the region and the rigorous management implemented, the necessary conditions are created to slightly reduce the value of the certification fee, giving the sector greater competitiveness".

CVA controls and certifies the region's wine production, ensuring the quality of the wines, guaranteeing their authenticity and traceability, being responsible for the defense and promotion of their designations.

Consolidating the image of Algarve wines is the mission of CVA, which intends to reinforce its commitment to quality and increase production in the short and medium term, in order to reach a certified production of two to three million bottles of Regional Algarve Wine per year.
