Monterosa Olive OilMonterosa extra virgin olive oil, produced in Moncarapacho, obtained excellent results in the various international competitions that presented the 2016 winners in the 1st fortnight of April.

Monterosa olive oil began the month of April with 4 silver medals in the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Contest, for the Maçanilha, Picual, Verdeal and Cobrançosa monovarietals, and a bronze medal for its new Frantoio variety.

At the New York International Olive Oil Competition, the most prestigious competition today, in which 826 olive oils from 26 countries participated, it won gold medals for Picual and Verdeal and a silver medal for Maçanilha.

The company emphasizes that it is «already the fourth consecutive year in which Azeites Monterosa has achieved gold in this competition, which clearly demonstrates the sustainability of the quality and excellence of the product and its visibility and recognition at an international level».

Finally, the monovarietal Maçanilha was also distinguished in the Evooleum Awards competition, which took place in Spain, being elected to be included in the top 100.

This year, Azeite Monterosa appeared on the market with a renewed image, starting to be sold in a black silk-screened bottle with a new design. The bottle is completely opaque to protect the oil completely from light.

"A constant perception of changes in the market and of consumer tastes and preferences is essential to proactively be in line with new needs", says one of the company's directors.

To the already usual Maçanilha, Cobrançosa, Verdeal and Picual, this year is joined for the first time by the new single varietal Frantoio, which is originally a famous Italian variety that has been spreading throughout the whole olive-growing world.

In addition to single varietals, there is Selection, which is produced with a mixture of varieties duly selected by the Monterosa team's internal panel of tasters.
