Refugees-UNICEF-MK-2015-Tomislav-Georgiev-1024x681The EB 2,3 João da Rosa school in Olhão is challenging its students to put themselves in the shoes of refugees. The school from Olhano joined the initiative “What if it was me? Do the backpack and go", an exercise of "awareness, mobilization and education for citizenship, which aims to demonstrate to children and young people the difficulties that refugees go through to escape war".

This is an initiative of the Refugee Support Platform (PAR), the High Commission for Migration and the National Youth Council (CNJ) and the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) that is being promoted in schools across the country .

At the school in Olhão, as in the others that adhered to this action, various activities will be promoted, this Wednesday morning. But the students have been preparing for days, as they were challenged to take to school, in their backpacks, «the goods they would carry if they were in a refugee's place (through images or, if possible, in physical format ), and then share the reason for their choices», according to the DGE.

"It is intended that the action will take place in all schools through a session on April 6, in the first half of the morning across the country, in which a video will be shown, showing how little refugees carry with them," he added. .
