Faro_beer factory_1It is already an event of international dimension, which has been bringing together, for six years, designers, brands, industry, researchers, companies and institutions in Faro.

The 2016 Algarve Design Meeting (ADM) will take place between the 21st and 28th of May, at Fábrica da Cerveja, in Vila-Adentro, and will feature a diversified program that includes conferences, workshops, exhibitions, cinema and videomapping.

The location of the event, the emblematic building of the former Portugália factory, in the Old Town of Faro, is the big news in this edition of this meeting.

«In a space of about 2000 square meters, we intend, through the various activities (seminars, exhibitions, workshops, exhibitions, etc.), to continue to disseminate and promote design and audiovisuals, as areas of innovation and strategic intervention, fundamental for social, cultural and economic development”, according to the Superior School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve, which organizes the event, with the institutional support of various entities.

«On another level, it is intended that ideas take shape, products and services are marketed and that new business opportunities and partnerships emerge, in an informal environment and platform for network in the area of ​​design”, added the organization.

The impact of this initiative can be measured by the numbers of recent editions. In its five years of existence, ADM has brought the Faro more than 100 speakers, promoted about 20 workshops, brought over 2 visitors and involved more than 50 companies.

Highlighted once again will be the International Videomapping Festival, on the façade of the Sé de Faro, an initiative very focused on the city, scheduled for the 28th, Saturday, at 22 pm.

In addition to works by ESEC students from the University of Algarve and the University of Tomas Bata, in the Czech Republic, the population will be able to enjoy videos produced by students from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.

More the program goes much further, always focused on design. The planned activities can be found in the event website, where registrations for the workshops to be held will be opened soon.

The University of Algarve is not alone in organizing the event, with several partners, namely: AND – National Association of Designers, Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, City Council of Faro, Loulé City Council, University of Tomas Bata – Czech Republic, Design Council, Design For Europe, Zero Museum and has the high patronage of the President of the Republic.
