Cuckuu_Screens-and-Mascot1-1024x789The Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School once again invited Beta Talk to, in this month of March dedicated to young people in Portimão, promote an inspiring conversation about entrepreneurship. It will be on the next 16th, at 19 pm, at that school.

This special edition of Beta Talk is aimed at the school community, but not only, as participation is open to everyone who wants to share the entrepreneurial spirit that marks this initiative.

The universe of social networks and the development of applications that meet the daily lives of young people, increasingly inspire new professions and business models and will set the tone for this month's conversation, with Beatriz Palma, blogger and image and makeup consultant, and João Jesus, CEO and co-founder of startup Portuguese Cuckuu.

Having finished high school, the decision was to follow a professional course in Image and Make-up Consultancy at Blossom Image Consulting in Lisbon. Currently, in addition to providing consultancy services in these areas and conquering some clients in the Algarve, it is increasingly assumed to be blogger Fashion.

Since she was a little girl, she was inspired by her mother's hairdressing activity and revealed to have a special taste for fashion, even dreaming of being a model.

She has been sharing her clothing preferences for a long time, and not only through a personal blog, but for a little over a year she has been grabbing with body and soul what she considers to be a part of herself – the blog A Be-atriz, where do you share your formal and casual looks diaries and a little bit of everything about lifestyle, beauty & fashion and everything that inspires her and likes to do.

She is considered a person full of taste for fashion and loves different things. He has already made some collaborations with several foreign and national brands and looks to the future as blogger, with passion and determination. If it's an easy job? Not! A lot of effort, dedication and a good dose of imagination and creativity are the essential ingredients to gain more and more followers and capture the attention of brands.

John JesusJoão Jesus is CEO and co-founder of cuckoo, an application with versions for iOS and Android, which replaces the way people use alarms, having already attracted the attention of the best entrepreneurship events. It was considered one of the top eight apps of Europe, at the Pioneers Festival in Vienna, and a startup promising at Web Summit 2015.

Despite being born in London, João Jesus came very early to live in Portimão, where he studied, having opted for the Natural Science course at Manuel Teixeira Gomes School, an area that always seemed strange to him due to his interest in the arts.

He was part of the National Full Contact team, where he won several national and international awards, and, above all, he acquired a life philosophy of never giving up on anything, something that is very useful to him nowadays.

At 17, after an invitation from Central Models, he starts working in photography as freelancer for various magazines, modeling agencies and advertising, roles he held until he was 23, when he went to London for a year to pursue his career as a photographer.

At 25, he returned to the Algarve with his family and created his studio in Portimão. At 28, he started teaching at Etic- School of Technologies, Innovation and Creation, as the person in charge of photography courses and it was here that he met Peu Fraga, the one who would become his partner at Cuckuu adventure.

At 32, he left everything behind and, with his partner, some papers and the idea of ​​creating a social network based on alarms to wake up other people, he started knocking on many doors.

In August 2014, he got a loan of 300.000 euros, packed his bags and went to live for four months in India, to develop there Cuckuu, which Forbes magazine today appoints as one of the startupPortuguese companies to keep an eye on, which already has 20.000 users and adds partnerships and usage opportunities.

Beta Talk is promoted by Beta-i – Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and is locally organized by the Municipality of Portimão, with the media partnership of “Sul Informação” and the collaboration of Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo, at the level of the Multimedia Course, which ensures photographic coverage.
