The president of the municipality of Albufeirense Carlos Silva e Sousa visited the parish of the municipality and met with the president of the Board Fernando Gregório, "in order to gather information with a view to implementing more projects", announced the Chamber.

«Ferreiras is a parish that has been growing significantly in recent years and this implies, on the part of the municipality, a special attention to those who live here and to their needs», said the mayor of Albufeira. This is the second most populous parish in the municipality, having registered an increase of around 2001% in its resident population between the 2011 and 30 censuses. Currently, it is estimated that this population is close to 8 thousand residents.

At the moment, «the municipality is working on a series of important investments such as the modernization of the Nora Sports Park, the requalification of the Fontainhas Athletics Track, the investment in accessibilities, namely the requalification of Estrada da Nora (already underway) and from Avenida 12 de Julho, the beginning of the construction of the Aldeia da Solidariedade, the creation of more social housing, as well as the opening of new premises for the Parish Council».

According to the municipality of Albufeira, «Green Spaces, Citizenship, Sports Equipment, Infrastructure and Administrative Modernization» were some of the themes of the meeting between the two mayors.

"Ferreiras is a parish full of young people, young couples who seek to develop their life project here and that, for that very reason, deserve public authorities to look at them, but also with an elderly population that deserves to be accompanied," he added. Carlos Silva e Sousa, who took the opportunity to remember “the great dynamics of local associative movements that contribute to reinforcing the identity of this parish in various fields such as sport, culture, solidarity, citizenship, and social support”.

At the meeting with the president of the Ferreiras Parish Council, Carlos Silva e Sousa addressed the need to create some municipal facilities here, noting that «City and Council are committed to finding solutions for the issues that represent priorities for this parish».

«We are working side by side, in a spirit of frank cooperation and I hope that soon we will be able to give more good news to the inhabitants of Ferreiras», concluded Carlos Silva e Sousa.
