promontoryThe second issue of the magazine of the series “Monographic Promontory – History of the Algarve”, entitled “Fragments for the History of Tourism in the Algarve”, will be presented on February 27, at 16 pm, at the Museu de Portimão.

Inserted in the Cycle of Tertúlias of the Grupo dos Amigos do Museu de Portimão, the magazine will be presented by Pere Ferré, vice-rector of the University of Algarve.

Vítor Neto, president of NERA, Business Association of the Algarve Region, will also give a brief review on the History of Tourism in the Algarve.

At the end of this session, the exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Algarve Regional Congress “1915-O Awakening of the Algarve”, on display at the Museu de Portimão, can be visited.

In this issue, which is coordinated by Alexandra Gonçalves, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, António Paulo Oliveira, professor at UAlg, and Cristina Fé Santos, master in Art History by UAlg, you can find several “Fragments for the History of Tourism in the Algarve".

There are several authors who, from different perspectives, have contributed so that the “History of Tourism in the Algarve”, since its beginnings, is now enriched and documented in this work.

Vítor Neto, Alexandra Gonçalves, José Gameiro, Cristina Fé Santos, João Pedro Bernardes, António Faustino Carvalho, Luís Guerreiro, Aurélio Cabrita, Miguel Godinho, José Gonçalo Duarte, António Correia Mendes, João Guerreiro, among others, help to better understand “the History of Tourism”, touching areas of knowledge as distinct as: culture, museology, history, health, archeology, press and economy.

The first issue of the “Monographic Promontory – History of the Algarve” focused on the dissemination of research work in the field of Health History, in the Algarve, authored by researchers from the universities of Algarve, Coimbra and Lisbon, as well as several other researchers and professionals in this field.

Promontoria is edited by the Center for Studies in Heritage, Landscape and Construction (CEPAC) of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve and has as its main objective the dissemination of research work in the area of ​​Human and Social Sciences, carried out by researchers whose geographic scope is centered in the peninsular southwest.
