D. Duarte, himself an enthusiast of this flower, will be present, at 16 pm, at the awards ceremony for the “Camélias em Flor – charm and natural beauty” contest, while minister João Soares should arrive at the event at 00 pm.

This morning, at the opening of the 2nd Festival of Camellias, the Monchique City Council, in partnership with the EB 1 Schools of Monchique (S.Roque and S.Pedro) and the Monchique Senior Academy, planted one hundred camellias, of different varieties, in public spaces and schools in the town.

The aim of planting camel trees is «to raise awareness among the school community and the population in general about the importance of this flower in the county area, since in the south of Portugal, only in Monchique does this plant find the best conditions to develop, contributing and a lot. for the beauty of Jardim do Algarve».

However, tonight, at 21 pm, the program continues with a concert at the Igreja Matriz in Monchique, by the “Trio Dell'Acqua”.
