SUP Lakes_changedTwo tourists practicing SUP (Stand Up Padle), who were about 2 miles south of Batata beach, in Lagos, and unable to return to land by their own means, were rescued in the early afternoon of Friday, on the 13th, in an operation coordinated by the Captain of Porto and the local commander of the Maritime Police of Lagos.

The alert was given to the local Command of the Maritime Police (PM) in Lagos at 13:10 pm, with a boat from the Ferragudo Life-Saving Station and two PM agents being sent overland immediately.

Both practitioners were rescued by the lifeboat SR-43, at 13:40 pm, and transported to the interior of the port of Lagos. "Although they showed signs of fatigue and cold, no medical intervention was necessary," revealed the Maritime Authority.

The two practitioners of Thai nationality, aged 20 and 23, "despite the adverse weather conditions, entered the sea and soon after leaving the natural shelter of the cliff, were quickly swept away by the wind".

The picket of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos took charge of the occurrence.
