Sandra CorreiaIt is the country "that stands to gain" with the election of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as President of the Republic, as he is someone "that will maintain the balance that Portugal will need in the coming years or even in the coming months," considered Sandra Correia, the representative for the Algarve of the winner of the 2016 Presidential Elections.

The Algarve businesswoman said she was "very happy" with the outcome of today's elections, which gave the candidate she supported the victory in the 1st round. “Basically, what we all expected was confirmed and that it was, moreover, already advanced by the polls for a long time”, he considered.

Sandra Correia believes that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will continue “just like himself” and that he will be a President “very clear-sighted and connected to all Portuguese, without putting anyone aside”. In other words, a man of consensus and close to the population.

Something that, says the president, has already been verified in the electoral campaign of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who was “very humble, made from person to person and without major investments”. In this way, Portugal also won a President "with a great deal of humanism".

As for the results verified in the Algarve, which, if repeated in the country, would force a second round, despite the clear victory of the future President of the Republic, they do not surprise Sandra Correia. «The Algarve is a very divided region, where there are other political forces that stand out. The fact that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, despite being an independent candidate, has some connection to the right, may have led some people from the Algarve to vote for other candidates», he considered.

And he even welcomes that, as this is a result that “validates what the Algarve is”, in political terms.
