Portimão's social democrats emphasize in particular the “humiliating defeat” of Maria de Belém, “whose representative was the president of the Portimão City Council”.

Taking a local reading of the national elections, the PSD/Portimão says it has received «the electoral results in the Municipality with high hope», referring to «aspire to find, in the future, solutions to the social, economic and financial issues of the Municipality. needs and that meet the aspirations of all Portimonenses».

The position of the social democrats of Portimão, whose structure supported the candidacy of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, goes in a different direction from the intervention that the elected President himself made last night.

In his victory speech, Marcelo said that "there are no losers in these presidential elections", and congratulated all candidates, who said they are "opponents, never adversaries", adding that they "deserve a very affectionate special greeting".

In Portimão, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa won, having achieved 46,31% of the votes, still below the average of 47,62% in the Algarve and 52% nationally.

This was followed by Sampaio da Nóvoa (23,55%), Marisa Matias (14,96%), Maria de Belém (4,36%), Paulo de Morais (4,08%), and Edgar Silva (3%), Vitorino Silva (2,7%), Henrique Neto (0,61%), Jorge Sequeira (0,22%) and finally Cândido Ferreira (0,21%).
