avatarThe Cascais Participatory Budget, a process to which the Algarve Regional Development association In Loco has been closely linked, is one of the five finalists for the Good Participation Practices Award, launched in October within the scope of the «Portugal Participa» project.

This competition is aimed at members of the Network of Participative Local Authorities and appears as an «incentive for the implementation, dissemination and enhancement of innovative practices of participatory democracy in Portugal».

In addition to the Cascais Participatory Budget, the “Oliveira do Hospital, a Friendly Municipality” project, the Águeda Participatory Budget, the Braga Participatory Budget and School Participatory Budget, and the Valongo Accountability Week are finalists.

It will be one of these active citizenship projects that will receive first prize, with an honorable mention being reserved for the runner-up.

After the finalists have been selected and announced, among the 14 original candidates, there will be a new phase, the public voting, which will take place between February 1st and March 18th. Voting will take place through the Democracy 2.1 voting platform. Each of these stages, jury voting and public voting, will have a weight of 50% in the final score.

The final results will be announced at the Portugal Participa International Conference that will take place on the 12th and 13th of April, in Lisbon.
