The lifeguard of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos de Ferragudo was activated this Sunday, at the beginning of the evening, in the area between Ponta do Altar and Ferragudo Pier, after the possible disappearance of a kite surfer was reported.
CDS source confirmed to Sul Informação that Maritime Police means, with two operatives, as well as a VMER vehicle and an INEM ambulance, were sent to the area, after the alert was given at 17:48 pm today.
The same source said that the elements of the Military Police are at the site, with the person who was walking in that coastal area and warned of the sighting of a kite surfer in trouble.
However, added the spokesperson for the CDOS, "there is no absolute certainty what was seen by the person who gave the alert and, if it was really a kitesurfing, if there was anyone with him". It's just that sometimes “practitioners quit kitesurfing, which flies far away”, especially on windy days, as is the case.
Anyway, the media were in the area, evaluating what actually happened, but the media were removed from the site, around 19:15.
