Rua Jornal “O Algarve” and Rua da Amendoeira, in the Penha area, in Faro will stay connected. The Chamber of Faro signed today the contract awarding the work that will create a road and pedestrian circulation between the two streets.
According to the Chamber, the intervention will resolve "a blockade that has existed for a long time in this residential area of the Penha district." The land through which the new connection will pass was purchased by the municipality in 2012, already with this intention.
The work, which is integrated in the program Faro Requalifica, was awarded to the company JEVOP Construções SA, for around 32 thousand euros plus VAT.
The municipality also emphasizes that “with this intervention, it will also be possible to start improving the urban planning of the surrounding area, as well as reorganizing the parking lot”.
The City Council “calls for a better understanding and cooperation of the resident population and users of these roads, while carrying out all these works”.
