2016-EventsThe new sporting season at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA) this year includes a major debut in Portugal, the FIM EWC – Endurance World Championship, from 24 to 26 June, an endurance race that will last 12 hours.

This race, which has Eurosport as its official media partner, promises to be exciting and count on the participation of big names in motorcycling.

The participation of the Parkalgar Racing Team will be another novelty in this race, but for now those responsible for the home team have not yet released the names of the riders who are part of it, promising to do so "soon". Parkalgar Racing has already achieved two World Supersport runner-up titles, in 2009 and 2010, and has achieved 12 race victories.

In August, from the 26th to the 28th, it will be the return of the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship and the Junior World Championship, which is considered one of the main drivers for Moto GP. Having made its debut on the Algarve circuit in 2014, this is the third consecutive time that the AIA is the chosen stage, now for the 5th round of the Championship.

Last year, 116 riders were present, representing more than 25 nationalities, in the Superbike, Moto2, Kawasaki Z Cup and Moto 3 World Championship categories, with the same number of entries expected this year.

A regular presence on the Algarve track is already the Algarve Classic Festival, this year from 28 to 30 October. Referred to as one of the biggest events of its kind taking place in Europe, every year the Portimão circuit gathers, in a weekend, the best drivers and cars of the specialty. With more than 400 drivers and cars participating in the 2015 race, this year the organization intends to register a new milestone.

The Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve (KIA) has also been the scene of important competitions. This year, in addition to the National Karting Championship, on the 7th and 8th of May, and the Rotax Max Challenge, from the 27th to the 29th of May, the KIA will also host the CEK – Spanish Karting Championship, from the 10th to the 12th of June.

Also in the same month, from the 24th and 26th of June, there will be the European competition, the CIK FIA Karting European Championship.

For the second consecutive year on the Portimão circuit, the CIK FIA now presents itself with a novelty, the OK engines will replace the KF used since 2007, in the European and world championships under the FIA's auspices. Thus, the so-called KF and KF-Junior categories will be designated as OK and OK-Junior.

As is customary in all AIA sporting events, children aged 16 or under have free access.
